1979? Technicolor 412D Single Tube Hand
Held Color Camera.
.
Vintage: 1979? One tube
hand held color camera. This camera is the mate to the Technicolor CVC
format VCR's shown previously on the Quarter Inch
VTR Museum page.
The camera head has a
built in 1. 5 inch B/W CRT viewfinder and a motorized zoom lens. This camera
head has no hand grip, though one was available originally. The pick up
tube is a striped target vidicon using a frequency separation system to
dissect color. Various lighting conditions and manual color balance can
be accommodated with a single control on the side of the camera. There
are three operator switches located on the rear of the camera. The first
selects normal or high sensitivity. The second switch enables a very unique
feature, a rear mounted microphone which allows the operator to record
his or her own voice. The third switch selects the viewfinder source, either
camera video or VCR playback video. Apparently, this is not an automatic
function like on most other video cameras. The unit shown is fully functional
and actually works rather well. It produces very accurate color and it
is moderately sensitive with just a little bit of image lag under low light
conditions.
WANTED: Service and or
Users manuals and or the other missing accessories for this camera.
