ATTENTION!
During the purchase of the video camera ask [sales people] to check:
-that video camera function well together with a video tape recorder
-video camera completeness [it just means that the box should contain all required items..]
-seal safety [every soviet device were sealed with a plasticine on one screw..]
-that video camera number [s/n] in a warranty coupons correspond to the number on a bottom of the video camera
-the presence of a shop stamps and sales date in a warranty coupons [a common practice in USSR - almost all consumer goods (even an arm watches, not even mention pocket calculators!) were stamped
on purchase]
Warranty coupons are torn off by service organization people only after the work [reparation]
was completed. Only one coupon should be torn off for each piece of the work.
R e m e m b e r! With the lost of warranty coupon you are loosing the right for warranty
reparation.
Before turning the camera on, get carefully acquainted with the actual instructions, purpose and
arrangement of control elements [operation controls], and a scheme for connecting video camera to a
video tape recorder.
Preserve the case and the lens against dust, dirt, aggressive environment affects, and a
temperatures lower than minus 20 and higher than 50 C.
During storage, transportation and function don't direct video camera lens vertically down.
Don't arrange too long, more than 1 hour, sessions of steady objects, because the moving tube has
a picture "memory" effect.
Store the video camera with the lens cover closed.
Certain video camera shipments may contain schematic and constructive changes, which don't degrade
their parameters.

When plugging in, orient the connector by the jack with direction key [strip?], and after connecotr with a slight push will enter the jack, then turning a cover ring clock-wise (2-3 turns), fix the connector in video tape recorder jack.

RECORDING

In order to record video and sound with a video tape recorder, it's necessary to perform following operations (see fig.1 and 2):
a) prepare video tape recorder according to the operation manual (in 1-2 minutes after turning video tape recorder power on, a luminescence should appear on a viewfinder display 4 of the video camera);
b) remove the cover from the lens, direct the lens to the object and, watching the picture in the viewfinder eyepiece 4, set a most clear and contrast picture, the same time adjusting a lens diaphragm;

R e m a r k s:
1. If the video camera is supplied with a lens of type "Industar 50-2", then do the diaphragm adjustments turning the ring 1 (see fig. 1), and the focus adjustments turning the ring 2. Set a desirable scale with lever 8.
2. If the video camera is supplied with a lens of type "Meteor 5-1", then do the diaphragm adjustments turning the ring 2 (see fig. 2), and focus adjustments turning the ring 1. Set a desirable scale with lever 8.
c) controlling the video tape recorder, that has a tape drive mechanism remote control, is performed pressing the switch 7 on the video camera handle, thereafter the tape drive mechanism is turned on, and, simultaneously, the indicator led behind the viewfinder eyepiece 4, which signal the recording mode, become lit. Recording termination is performed pressing the switch 7 second time, thereafter the led gets dark.
d) controlling the video tape recorder, that hasn't a tape drive mechanism remote control, is performed by operation controls, located at the video tape recorder panel.
During the next session, the video camera should be turned smoothly in order to be able to review on the viewfinder display the scene being recorded.
It's suggested not to be affected by capturing steady scenes, because in a difference of photography, the video recording gives an opportunity to show an action in it's dynamic. [Somehow non-technical language.]

In order to get quality soundtrack recording, provide a neccessary level of the sound recording, adjusting the distance between a sound source and the video camera microphone, doing in certain cases probe recordings.
For the quality sound recording during the session of type "interview", it's suggested to use external microphone, connecting it directly to the video tape recorder.

In order to play recording back, perform a tape rewind and set a video camera in convenient state
to watch the viewfinder screen, put the tape recorder into "playback" mode.

Perform dust removal from the lenses and viewfinder with a soft fiber brush or a stream of dry air
from the gum bulb [not sure about eng. equiv.]. In a certain cases it's possible to use well
laundered and boiled batist napkin.
To prevent scratches on the optical details, cleaning should be done without extensive force.
During the storage, video camera should be kept the handle up on the special ledges on a top side
of the case.
Avoid a contact of connecting jacks with the case and other video camera parts, as it may cause a
mechanical demages.
Don't keep the video camera near strong magnetic fields, sources of radio noise (working electric
drives, generators, transformators and so on), in a conditions of too low or too hight
temperature, high humidity or extensive dust. To keep normal video camera function during a long breaks in
usage, store it in a standart package in a dry place with the temperature of 25 +/-15 C.
