TAV-3610: New Photo and
Info! I've just received word of this model.
It's similar to the TCV-2110, in that it is a transportable VTR and 9 inch
video monitor / receiver combination. However, this rig is built around
an EIAJ format AV-3600 deck. Photo: Jake Smith. |

in high school, way back in 1976. |

portapack and camera. Yours truly demonstrates the proper stance and posture
for operating the AV-3400. (The polyester is optional.) |

AV-5000: Introduced in 1970. B/W EIAJ, color
non-standard pilot signal color recording method! 1/2 inch tape, reel to
reel, VTR. Apparently a marketing error on Sony's part. As the story goes:
Sony was so confidant, that the EIAJ committee would approve their system,
that they sold the AV-5000 before color EIAJ was standardized. Denson electronics
sold the brand new AV-5000's in their 1976 catalog for $250! Sony's original
price was around $2,000! Info: Howard Katz, Photos: Educational TV magazine

Note that half of the clear part of the cover slides to one side. This
was so that the operator could insert one of the self threading tapes with
out opening the main cover. Photo: LabGuy. |
